"Journey of a lifetime - From Pandemonium to Sanctum"

Hey guys I am back with my new blog on my new enduring experience of a journey to a beautiful place named "Shiv Khola". The place got its name as Shiv Khola from the the beautiful Lord Shiva's
temple ,situated in that area and the word "Khola" which means a small flowing river stream(In Nepali). People residing there are living a simple life. As the temperature prevailing there is not suitable for growing crops and vegetables, the residents have to travel approximately 50 kms to purchase their basic necessities of day to day life.

This trip to Shiv Khola was planned by two of my best rocking buddies Mr. Ruben and Mr.Rituraj.
So, the planning initiated when these two "Think Tanks" of our group were sitting together and were planning of a rendezvous.

( Rituraj on left and Ruben on right)

But this time they were planning something different. They were planning for an outdoor travelling trip. Both of them decided that they will arrange everything for this trip. But the biggest challenge was to decide the location. They took 2 to 3 hrs discussing of different places. They were searching on net and were also referring to their friends. Finally the search was over after 2 hrs. and was finalised we were going to "Shiv Khola".

Rituraj called me up late night and informed me about the finalised location and told me to report by 10:00 A.M at "IXB HEADQUARTERS". I was very excited for this trip and the best thing was that it was on my weekoff.

So, as per the schedule I woke up early morning . I was so excited that I slept only for 3 to 4 hrs. But around 09:00 A.M when I was about to leave my place I received a call from my Manager, that there is a staff shortage and I have to report back to office. But guys,I lied him that I am on my way to Mirik, a nearby beautiful small hill station. He told me to report if possible, but my answer was ," No Chance Dude".(But the word "Dude" was silent.....hahahha...😁.)

Finally everyone reported to "IXB HEADQUARTERS" at 09:45 A.M. Everything was arranged very neatly and in a precise manner. The best thing was the vehicle on which we were about to start our journey. It was "Mahindra Thar" and a special thanks to Mr. Akumba for this. I think it would be very unfair to say "Thar" a vehicle; I would like to define it as a "Big Black Devil" running on wheels. It's damn powerful and I experienced it's power as I was the co-driver through out the journey.
"Shiv Khola" is at a distance of approximately 60 Kms. from our place and it lies on the hilly terrains. So we required a strong machine which can carry all of us to that place and for that "Thar" was undoubtedly the best.
                         ( Akumba on Left)

On the way to our destination we stopped at a place named Sukna, where we picked up our fifth partner of the trip. He was the most important guy in this trip as he was only aware of the routes to our destination; in other words we can say that he was like a GPS tracker device who will guide us towards our destination.. It was a small hault of around 15 mins. We had some refreshments and again kickstarted our journey. As we were getting away from the main population and traffic , the air was getting fresh and chilled. The air which we were breathing in , not only purified our lungs but our souls too. There were very less vehicles on road. It seemed we were getting deep inside the lap of nature.

There was no looking back and it seemed that we have left our busy monotonous life far behind. We were just thinking of the present moment and wanted to live it at the fullest. Our machine was running like a king on the off -roads and we were coming across the beautiful scenaries of  mountains kissing the clouds, green forests and tea plantations. We also saw some sign boards stating ," Say no to tobacco", "Hunting Prohibited", and some helpfull sign boards stating," Broken Road Ahead". which helped us in driving more safely.

Finally, we reached around 12:30 P.M and it was a  mind boggling scenary in front of us. We offloaded all items and started arranging them. We lighted fire and our very talented Hotel Management student Mr. Ruben started preparing fish fries as a starter for all of us and followed by the main course of our menu. We were playing guitar, singing songs, having drinks, dancing and enjoying the beauty of the nature. We also clicked some beautiful and memorable pics of nature . You can see the beautiful pictures which are self explanatory. A  river was flowing by our side and it was so beautiful and clean that two of our gold medalist swimmers Akumba and Rituraj jumped into it.The water was crystal clear , chilled and blue.

By 05:00 P.M our food was ready and our hotel management guy had performed a tremendous job. The food he prepared was not less than a 5-star food for us.All of us were not expecting the he is going to cook like that.We all had our food and enjoyed it.But one of our friend Mr. Abhishek was having food in such a quantity that it seemed he has just returned from a hunger strike and the way he was eating,he reminded me of a hindi song," Kal ho na ho".
                              ( Abhishek)

By 06:00 P.M we started packing and boarded our machine and started returning back. While returning home our best friend Mr. Akumba was driving as he had participated in a valley racing. When I asked him to drive slowly as the roads were very narrow, u won't beleive the way he answered me; "Bro ,I can see the road as a four lane highway " and he stood on his words and drove all of us back home safely.

I would really like to thank all our group members ; Akumba, Rituraj,  Ruben and Abhishek to make this trip a memorable one. I have also shared some beautiful pics . Hope you all will like it ............................................................

Shiva Khola which stands aloof from our world is majestically a place to be ventured once you are alive. Not too populated and giving the raw touch of nature. This place is perhaps where you can come in equanimity with yourself........So folks from IXB HEADQUARTERS we suggest you to spend some quality time with your family..

Thank you....

SUCCESS OVER FAILURE

Folks, it seems our blog is growing bigger and bigger with time. It would not have been possible without your contribution. I have the feeling of Euphoria when I check the stats and I find readers from all over the world reading our posts from different platforms. Be it android device or an IOS. Indeed I agree with you Firoz. They have changed the whole meaning of life and have made this world smaller.

I would like to share a small instance from my school days. I was really very weak in Mathematics. Highest did I get was a mere 35%. And there it came  the Parent Teachers Meet. Where I usually kept my fingers crossed when my dad had to meet the Maths teacher. Obviously yes, the teacher used to complain about me. To his remark, after coming out of the classroom.
My father used to say- "Oh.. I don't care what that idiot was talking all about, I know your Potential and I know you would get better scores next time. Please do not get bogged down."

I knew it was hard-pressed to comment like that. I used to be happy at that point of time as he spared me. But do you know why he used to say that???
He said it just to boost up my confidence level and cheer me up. And also he saw a potential in me, which I' am still figuring out with myself. It was enough to learn from a successful person like him.

So, confidence is one of the pillars of success. Half the battle itself is won if you are confident and ascertain whats right or wrong. Success can never be achieved in a fortnight. "Rome was not built in a day". It takes time and perseverance. Proper and effective planning needs to be ensured.
I remember a very strong quote by Dr. Abdul Kalam- "Difficulties in your life do not come to destroy you, but to help you realise your hidden potential and power. Let difficulties know that you too are difficult".
So, the mantra here is very simple. "No Pain, No Gain". One has to suffer tremendous labour and hardwork to achieve success. Hence, Persistent determination leads to success.

Success to me is Correct decision at correct time. Time has got a lot of role to play here. Many of us must have made a blunder in choosing the streams during graduation. It is now we realize the fact that, " what if I had taken up science, I would have been an Engineer, Had I taken up commerce I would have been a Chartered Accountant and Blah Blah Blah!!! Who Cares? People just see the results. And Why Am I thinking about people too? Do I really care? No, I don't. Success is just competing within yourself leaving all odds out. Its learning from the past failures. Contemplating and making amendments in the past mistakes.

People say- "Failure is the stepping stone to success", whereas in my words "Success is building Castles with Stones". So, here comes the never bog down situation. Step up the stones but not sleep on the stones.
Know Youself- Half the Marathon is already over if we know ourselves in detail. Knowing our Strengths and weakness. Our likes and dislikes, our objectives and goals. The very moment we know all these, we are successful.

The ball is in our court, yes it is and I mean it. Its never too late. We just need to maneuver our present to the path that leads  to our glorious future and reach the summit.

Friends, Its high time now that we need to revive and explore our strengths. Somewhere, there is a threshold that needs to be understood. Perhaps it is the perfect time to trigger our potential and show the whole world our worth.

And with this- " The Goal will not seem any longer where determination still prevails" - Akum Biswas

What is the Solution?

Hello friends…

Writing on something which can enlighten the readers has always encouraged me to present to all something out of the box every time I write. This one is a short but powerful mantra for bringing about a change describing the journey of how to pave your dream into a visionary aspect.

Some say you are weak, some say you are not game and some even say it was not at all meant for you, but the irony is no one ever comes up with a solution. Solution is thus the basic factor of what can make us rise, but should this solution be on a mental or physical basis. Mental if too much can harm internally and physical if too much can kill. The solution thus lies in oneself.

As people we face innumerable problems every day and are left with no solution to overcome them. Some rise above some don't, the ones who dont finding it more and more difficult end up in a dilemma. The total framework of how we look into things and what we expect from them is to be reversed. Huge decisions do take time but sooner or later they leave their mark. The mark left behind is something for us to learn.

There are a million stories where in we hear how something impossible was achieved or how a dream paved the way to reality in no time. These stories make us believe in our dreams that are stuck somewhere we ourselves don’t know.

Success for everyone is different. Some see themselves as kings; some are happy with what they have. Vision is a serious cause which will help you pave your path to success in the coming future. In the process one may face tremendous hurdles but all this pays off at the right time. There are thus no shortcuts to achieving your dreams. Hard work alone is never enough as a lot of people are working hard round the clock but end up with no results. Pure dedication, zeal and determination to achieve the vision will bring you closer to your dream.

Dreaming is just the start and it is not helping me until and unless I focus mentally and physically towards it that will help to bring about a change. This change will later prove to others that what I dreamt was just the beginning but what I leave behind today is what my vision was….

The Mind... reckless and free.!

There are some that makes you happy and then,
There are some that makes you sad.
How many times have you felt,it's not always about that..

Let me introduce myself as a Dreamer.
I don't go facts and figures, I go more to the clouds and mirrors.
May I unveil my World to you., IXB Headquarters.. appreciate.. for letting me contribute..

A Silent Prayer

She asked me one day,
'Child, are you happy, weary or sad? '
For a moment there I paused,
Should I tell her what's on my mind?

Bent with the flow, moments come and go
Had I gathered enough, I didn't know.
I kept looking in people, things and places.
Million strayed thoughts, I couldn't place them.

Bricks and stones building homes.
Flesh and bones piling up on the grounds.
Wait, is that an eye I see on the street?
Then are we blind, I couldn't place that in my mind.

Like a duck in a pond, past the serene tranquillity,
Could I find words enough for the Ocean of thoughts paddling beneath.
If you can see through the doors in my eyes I told,
'O Mother, all that is in my mind is.,Bless and Rise this Land! '

Journey of a mobile phone.

Hello friends! This would be my first article for the site so I have tried to keep it very simple. Hoping to learn a lot in the coming future from all of you.

Writing has always been my passion and hope this serves the purpose. I intend to write on this topic as it is something that everyone of us have and are never satisfied, always looking forward for a better one. ( Laughs! ! )..

Go back a decade where mobiles had just come into the market and every individual was awaiting awareness on it. Back then everyone did want one but the expenditure was a big issue as they were way expensive. Not just the phone alone but the sim and also the monthly tariff. To tackle these hurdles  there was only one solution, wait and so were we all waiting. The wait had to end. The prices slashed down but this was only from the network providers. We still had to buy the same hefty priced phones.

One of the biggest reason, there were very few players in the market who sold mobile phones, three to four to be precise. But soon as the prices of the network providers slashed down new players entered the market and now there was a tough  competition. No longer the few companies could monopolize. As new companies emerged our dreams to own a phone started taking its route. There was more awareness now as far away in the rural areas people were now aware that there is a device with which they could talk wirelessly. Their success was ours too.

Technology played an immense role in the great outcome of this amazing device. It all started with a huge dimensioned bar type calculator kinda device which was hard to fit in the pocket, but then it would do with keeping it in the hand as it was a status symbol.

A small screen to see the the numbers, just five ringtones and they were also your message tones accompanied by an antenna for the network. This to todays dates sounds insane as no one would use such an obsolete device.

Then gradually the shape and size started decreasing and products even became sleek and stylish. Small became the fashion. The smaller the better.

Everything was tried a huge device was now small and sleek which looks good to the eyes but this was not it. The next step was inventing other activities which kept humans busy,  and to tackle this issue phones now had an expandable memory where you could store songs, videos, files backed up by a camera helping you capture endless memories.

As customers we need to keep updating and so does the manufacturers. This gave way to a new wave where keypads were left behind and touch became the new commute. Touch interface has credited the highest ever things possible to get done in one simple device which were actually meant to make and receive calls. With touch the device screen felt huge and many other activities such as using the internet became a lot easier. Mobiles now started replacing computers and laptops as many work which were not possible then was possible now.

From a huge dimensioned bar type calculator kinda device to a slim trimmed shiny 5 inch device with which you could click amazing photos, share them to your friends, store your favourite movies, videos and songs, stream the net at the highest speed possible, transfer anything from yours to the other in just seconds also with a facility for you to make and receive calls and send text.

This was why the mobile became so necessary to every human. Well, your wife might leave you and go but your phone will always stay. Why did this thing become so important we couldn’t do without is the answer to why it is so important and grew recognition in less then a decade. It became something which was with us round the clock.

We do make fun of the times when we had to carry along these huge phones but never look into the journey these devices travelled. The journey what we believed was almost impossible is now a possible truth in everyone’s hand.

Lights Will Guide You Home

                                            Tihar

I sometimes wonder that how amazingly the seasons play their part in filling our lives with joy. How effectively have been they placed in perfect order. It is said that we generally love the season , we are born in. Quite plausible! Also a stupid thought comes to my mind that what would happen if the seasons went reversal? It would be quite interesting to see the plight of people and how what would be the scenario.Just in case, if monsoons were followed by summers.  Hypothetically I think that love stories would be dull and mundane, incessant rain and humidity would soak up all the romance, sipping coffee would be irritating, all of us would stay indoors and would only see each other after six months. The entire dynamics of aestivation and hibernation would change.Suddenly there would be a surge in the online sale of raincoats and umbrellas. And don't worry thanx to global warming this might be possible..Already the air quality in Delhi is at its worst due to smog .
But then I am not writing something about the climate change. Well after a lot of thot I felt I should write about something which makes us happy and unequivocally the best part of the year has come. With it has come the festivities of Diwali and Christmas. Autumn has shed in and has made the weather soothing, while its slowly making way for winter. Soon we all will be celebrating the festival of lights . Since childhood , lights have always kept me intrigued and fascinated. I still remember when we used to travel by train I take up the window seat and watch the unfathomable dark and whenever I used to see a flicker of light far distant away, something just made me happy. Or be it gazing at the stars from my terrace or just looking at the cluster of lights of the hills of Kurseong from right across my window. All those still evokes long forgotten memories.
The reason why I am narrating all these is because of the significance Diwali holds for the people from where I come from, and for all the people of the foothills of North Bengal , Sikkim and the Gorkhalis all over the world. Diwali as it is called elsewhere, likewise all the people of the Gorkha community address it as " tihar ", which originates from the Sanskrit word " Tyohaar" . I was quite perplexed as to how and why do we follow these rituals. The simple answer which I could think of was that I have to and there is no second thought. And I dint have the urge to question that time . I still laugh over the fact that during pujas I used to pray only for good marks and pretty girls as girlfriends.... Tihar only meant bursting crackers and having the delicacies made by mom and sent by family and friends. As years passed by or so to speak as I became older, I started thinking about the origin of rituals and being the part of the selfie generation I decided I should atleast speak to some elders and learned man from our family and colony.I can say  i have come from not knowing an iota of it to atleast knowing some signifance behind those culture and folklore. I thought of sharing it with you on the eve of this bright , illuminating festival and to all my friends who have always wanted an insight into all these. I hope you all will appreciate it . Below are some of those ideas opined by elders with me and which I have tried to give words to it and present to you all the intricacies into the aura of lights.

1. Kukur ,Kaak and Gau Tihar
Animals have proven to be the best allies of men since ages. Robinson Crusoe would have died out of loneliness if a dog hadn't given him company. Jesus Christ was known as the Good Shepherd owing to his love for lambs and sheep's. Also during the times of Ramayana , when lord Rama had gone into exile and incognito and Sita was abducted by Ravana , it is said that crows and dogs were the messengers . Also it is believed that Dogs are the messengers of Lord Yamaraj, the god of death, and therefore they are worshipped once each year , a day before laxmi puja. It is known as Kukur Tihar . , kukur which means dog in Nepali .The kaak is the Nepali name for crows and the crow is a natural scavenger, it cleans the surroundings by feeding on the dead and decayed remains. Therefore they too are worshipped .  The pet dogs and especially the street dogs receive an ellite treatment on this day though they are always a nuisance for people on the other days.. On this day they are the kings. They are offered garland , tika ( tilak) and served with their favourite food. This is a way to acknowledge the cherished relationship between humans and dogs. Quite ironically, hundreds of birds , dogs and other animals die out of shock, fear and accidents during Diwali. Please spare a thought for these creatures who cannot speak up.

2) Selroti
The aroma of Selrotis gives a feeling of festivity itself . All the Gorkha people might be quite familiar with the scenes of our mother and grandmother making this unique and special roti during Tihar. It's a very popular item almost in every household and quite famous as well. During my college days in Pranshanti Nilayam , my friends used to like it so much that guys from Daejeeling and Sikkim used to ask from our parents to parcel it. Just imagine .. Since we were not aware of the proper etymology and origin of it, " Fox Bread " was the name given to it. Since it was pronounced as Shiyal Roti by many of us,and Shiyal means Fox in Nepali lingo. Hilarious to think of it now, as after many conversations with the elders who have seen generations, I have mastered its pronunciation and deciphered its origin.
So friends let me give you all an idea about Selrotis. It is a popular fermented rice -based ring shaped , spongy, pretzel like , deep fried food item commonly consumed in Sikkim and Darjeeling hills in India , Nepal and Bhutan .It is prepared during religious festivals and special occasions. Geographically the foothills of Himalayas have been a major rice bearing areas , so this  food item was easy to be made. It should be remembered that there is no clear empirical evidence suggesting a particular theory behind its origin. Information on indigenous knowldege and antiquity of Selrotis can be sought form village elders and older women.
I came to know that, Roti is a Nepali word for bread. Out of many kinds of bread, the Gorkhalis consume two of them and have a special place in society. One is Babari  and the other is Selrotis. Baari is round , solid pancake. Both ate prepared from grounded rice flour. In the olden days only Babari was prepared and consumed by the people instead of Selrotis. Since the consumers found it difficult to fry it in a pan, especially to turn it upside down, they started making rings with the batter and to turn this ring shaped bread , they started using a Poker, locally called Suiro( a painted bamboo stick). Anything lifted with a Suiro is called Saeli in the Nepali language. Probably the word Selroti might have derived from the word Saela.Slowly Babari was replaced by Selroti. There is a hypothesis on the nomenclature of it. The word Saeli is a name for local variety and rice cultiavted in the foothills of Nepal. The product prepared from seli variety of rice might have been called Selrotis. In Nepali the word saal means a year. Since Selrotis is prepared during Tihar or Tiwar, one of the main festivals, which is celebrated once a year. Therefore there is a notion that Selroti has originated from the word saal meaning confectionary bread prepared during festival once a year .
Selroti has an ethnic importance among the Gorkhalis . It is served during marriage ceremony of various castes along with other traditional food items. It is customary to hand over a basket full of freshly fried Selroti to bride's parents by the groom . This is probably tobsupplement the sweet dish which is traditionally rare among the Gorkhalis. It's an ethnic food and a hallmark of the culture and tradition of them. Tastes amazing wiith spicy Aloo Dum and also with tea in the morning. Kudos to whoever invented this doughnut version of ours. We all love it.

3) Bhaylo & Deusi
Adding lustre to the culture and an embodiment of love and brotherhood is the traditional practise of Bhaylo and Deusi . On the day of Gau Tihar when we worship cow which is a form of goddess in hindu culture and also the day when goddess laxmi is worshipped, a unique way of spreading joy , and happiness is Bhaylo. Deusi is celebrated after Bhaylo i.e., the next day of laxmi puja.
It is believed that when Lord Rama returned from exule, people sang in rapture . So in a way a precedent was started . It is practise of pomp and grandeur. Bhaylo is a kind of lyrical song full of well wishes where girls dress up in the traditional attire of Chobandi Cholo, they sing praisful hymns where they praise and worship God and thank god for all the blessings he has bestowed upon each one of us. On the day of Awsi ( amawasya) girls come door to door soon after the culmination of Laxmi Puja and spread the love. It gives an immense pleasure to hear them.

The girls convey that on auspicious day of laxmi puja and  Tihar we have come to your abode and please keep your surroundings clean and the house should be smeared with cow dung which is very pious .They go on to say that " Hasmi aafai aako hayna, Balli Mharaj le patha lo Ho" meaning we haven't come by our will , we have been sent by King Balli.  There is a small anecdote behind this .It is said that Balli Maharaj was one of the most charitable and philanthropic kings. He was nearly about to win all the three lokas with his noble deeds. Fearing this., Indra and all requested Lord Vishnu to come to their rescue . So Lord Vishnu disguied himself as a Baaman ( dwarf ) , went to the king and asked for bhiksha. The king was ready to give anything. Then the Baaman asked for three foots of land.He then took the grand form and kept his foot on the two lokas. And lastly to fulfill his promise devoted his head to Vishnu so that he could keep the last feet on top of the head of King.. Vishnu agreed and asked to place his head .. That in Nepali can be called as deu sirey. And also people chant the names of Lord Rama and say Deusireyram. From there on it was a ritual which was followed.  The next day the boys have their turn in playing Deusi. The most original and insitu practise was tobnarrate all the history of Ramayana in a lyrical manner using the Maadal and dancing. But as generations have passed, the lyrics has somewhat gone corrupt and lot of amusing and humorous lines are making its way. From Bollywood to latest trends find a mention in the lyrics. I have heard lines like , " Ae bidi ra paan , ae salman khan and Ae kitab ko panna , ahey Rajesh khanna ", which tries to corelate two trivial points of a paan leaf and salman Khan and pages of a book and actor Rajesh khanna
But still the traditional songs and dance is performed and it is played . As a gesture of love and appreciation , we give out money known as Aashis ( reward) to the girls and boys. Perhaps cherishing their wishes and creating a positive atmosphere when they leave with lines like:-

Yesai Ghar ka laala bala,
Dubo Jaiso Maulai rahos,
Yesai Ghar ka Buda Pakha, Baari Peepal Jaiso Bachi Rahos,
Yeaai Ghar ka sakha santan,
Kera Jaiso Gaaji Rahos,
Yesai Ghar ka Parewa Panchi ,
Urda kheri surja chelum,
Yesai Ghar ka laxmi le sada sarvada basei garus,
Yesai Ghar ka mata pita le ,
Paani chuda telai hos,
Maato chuda dravya hos.
The symbolic meaning of these lines are beautiful and touch our heart. They wish that the kids and small ones of this house should always grow like the tall grasses ( dubo) , the elderly have a long life span like the banyan and peepal tree. All the members of this family are always united like the Bunches of the fruits of banana tree. There be so much prosperity that when the birds fly across the horizon , they cover the skies while signifying prosperity. May goddess laxmi and wealth also dwell in this house. And finally when the mother and father of the house touch water, it may turn into oil and the touch of earth may change them to metals signifying strength.
4) Bhai Tika

The unconditional love between brother and sister is potrayed by Bhai tika. Sisters put tika ( tilak)/on the forehead of their brothers and pray for their well being and long life. This is a beautiful tradition and even the gods are a part of it. Boys can be seen wearing garlands of Saipaatri flower( marigold). Flowers are embodiment of love and happiness. Saipaatri means a flower containing hundreds of petals . when each petal is combined and united it makes a beautiful flower. This signifies that we all should live in harmony .
So frens, these are some of the integral parts of our culture and I hope you all have related to it and have got an idea of it. My understanding of it was in the rudimentary stage but now its something I can never forget. And to experience this rich culture you all have to be apart of it and may be how good it feels to be a part of it. I wish all of you a very prosperous Diwali and Tihar .. Stay safe and spread the happiness ... A special prayer for the Nepal earthquake survivors.. Though this Diwali might have been different if the tragic loss wasnt there. But we all love you... And remember......
No matter where you are .. Lights will always guide us home.. Take care.....

“We are GORKHAS and Proud to be Indian"

“We are GORKHAS and Proud to be Indian. Hello Folks I am  Bhawesh Chhetri, I belong to bagdogra district Darjeeling  west Bengal working in Aviation Security at bagdogra Airport as a security officer where my mandate is to keep my customers happy  my employees happy.

In my personal life I am very neat and organized Person. I study at home and I like my desk to be perfectly in order. I had exact point of my phone not two inch this way or two inch that way. I have perfect place for my clock, Perfect place for my book. I am found of Running and had question in my mind when was the last time I did something for the first time?

Run with Roshni is a Brainchild of Roshni rai a Gorkha girl from a village known as Pedong in the District of Darjeeling, west Bengal. Roshni is Advocate by profession and she is based in Mumbai. Her hobby is long distance running and she had participated in several half marathon (21km) full marathon (42) and ultra marathons of 50 km, 75km and 89km. She had represented India in the Comrade Marathon of 89km. She believes that if Gorkha kids get a proper guidance from the right age, they have the potential to become world class runners and compete with the Kenyans and Ethiopians. She founded the Run with Roshni Foundation to eliminate the identity crisis faced by Nepali speaking Indians in their own motherland.

Experiencing the life in a Metro city of Mumbai living and leading her life away from home, many a times, she has faced identity crises, which all the Gorkhas are facing all over India. Whenever, she says her mother tongue is Nepali, people assumed her to be a migrant form Nepal, when the fact is Nepali is already a recognized language under the constitution of India and it is one of the language mentioned in the Indian currency.

Rotary Darjeeling Marathon
With a Vision: Produce World Class Marathon Runners from the Darjeeling Hills Run with Roshni team had organized  Rotary Darjeeling Half Marathon  which was my Spontaneous choice to show my Courageous act will be the difference between I am and I wish I was……….. The route crisis crosses the emerald green tea garden the exotic coniferous forests the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the heritage Toy train tracks the jalapahar cantonment against the famed backdrop of the Kanchenjunga massif. A red carpet welcome and an ardent supporter from Darjeeling town give me the push and when it over with a net timing of 2:20:39 sec that joy last forever.

“An eco- friendly adventure sport is the best way to spice up and brighten one’s life. Becoming one with nature is the most satisfying experience that one can have as it places the mind and body in harmony.

“I supported Roshni, which represents the Enlightenment which will lead the Gorkha community in greater Heights and wider scopes in all areas of life………….. to regain the lost pride with positive actions and activities come lets a goal…….lets set an Aim ……lets target a goal…..let run with pride Run with honor Run with vision…….Run with Positive Energy, Run with Unity, let’s all Run with Roshni Enlightenment there will be a day when the world would shout “GORKHAS ……THAT IS WHY THEY ARE!”

At the end there is no doubts at all about the Unanimity among politicians is rare and the desire for Gorkhaland is deeply embedded in the heart of the People and cannot be erased or suppressed.
We are Gorkhas and proud to be Indian. Jai Gorkha, Jai Hind.

"Durga Puja- A Divine Experience."

"Beautiful blue skies of Autumn with large white soft clouds, the fragrance of "Shiuli Flowers: (also known as night- flowering jasmine) and the beatings of "Dhaks"- all this symbolises only one thing to everyone -It is celebration time, it is Durga Puja time.

Every year with the advent of Autumn, each and every family waits eagerly for the arrival of Goddess Maa Durga. We also have been waiting long for that particular day, when apart from our daily
schedule, waking up early morning and hear the mellifluous chants of Mahisasur Mardini.

The joy of Durga Puja can be sensed right from the day of "Mahalaya". Positive energy starts floating in the air. People are busy in shopping new clothes and making arrangements to welcome Maa Durga.

The day has arrived. It is the time to wear new clothes, worshipping Maa, breaking the shackles of diet restrictions, hopping pandals, gulping yummy delicacies and having fun time with Family & friends.

But Friends, we cannot brush aside the real meaning behind Durga Puja. This Puja is not simply about celebrations and having feast. The actual meaning of the Puja is the celebration of goodness over the evil. it is about the triumph over the evil.

Durga Puja is also a mass believe of the emergence of an almighty saviour as :Maa Durga", when evil was trying to take over the goodness in the universe. So, this puja is much beyond the celebratons and glamour and glitter of pandals.

This year Navami and Dashami were on the same day and my friends planned to go all out in the night and hop around each and every pandal. We started our journey from our own colony puja in Bagdogra ( West Bengal). It was a mesmerizing feeling to se the beautiful pandals and idols of Maa Durga, Ganesha, Kartik, Lakshmi & Saraswati. All people  around the pandal were very happy and their eyes were glittering with positive energy. Everyone was well groomed and dressed up in their own cultural ethnic wear. I went inside the pandal and prayed for the well being of my family and friends.

In the meanwhile my friends planned  to go to Siliguri; as it is said that after Kolkata, Durga Puja is celebrated in Siliguri on large scale. So, we took our Bikes and started our journey. On the way to Siliguri we visited Pandals in Shivmandir and Matigara too.

Finally we reached Siliguri at 11:00PM . It was a mind boggling scene. The roads were jammed by thousand and thousands of people. Not only adults but small children and senior citizens too. We also jumped into that crowd and became a part of it. We were visiting each and every lanes of Siliguri. At 12:30AM we all were starving out of hunger. We had some street foods like Chaat, Veg- Choumin, Jalebis and Gulab Jamun. After catching some breathe we resumed our journey. It took whole night to visit each and every pandal. At 4:30Am we returned back to our sweet homes and slept and were dreaming into heavens.

With this Durga Puja was over and it was Idol Immersion day. This day is also celebrated very ritually. All women smeared vermilion on each other faces in a ritual called "Sindoor Khela:. After that in the evening the idols were loaded in trucks and were taken towards the rivers for immersion. All trucks were accompanied by a
group of people including ladies and children who were dancing on the beats of Dhaks and were playing with colours. They were Chanting, "Durga Maa ki Jay, Durga Maa ki Jay." Some police personnel were also present and following the group to control the traffic and to avoid any unwelcome situation.

After long two hours we reached our destination and the idols were immersed into the water. All people present there were chanting " Aabar Kobe, Bochor Pore; Aabar Kobe,  Bochor Pore, and some were seen with tears in their eyes as Maa Durga was leaving.

Encapsulating, it was some beautiful and magical moments of my life, which I have tried to express with my writings. It is really not possible to express in words what we feel about this Puja. In the end, as you all can see from the below picture, because of the immersion of large number of Idols in rivers, the water is getting dirty. The government should take proper measures to make these rivers clean after the immersion of Idols.

THE QUEEN HAS TO REVIVE ITS IDENTITY AND PRIDE

It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of this lovely initiative taken by our lover boy Reauben chhetri. One can never equate verbal expression with penning the thoughts. As there is no time bound to think and express it through writing. A good Orator is always remembered. However, a good writer enlists himself into the history books. As correctly said by Francis Bacon- "Reading makes a full man, conference a ready man and writing an Exact man".
No wonder, so to speak The Newspapers are printed, books are published and poems are chanted.  All are exemplary work of a good writer.

I have always thought of writing a blog and maintaining it but the effort seemed to be in vain.
Rituraj's article sent shivers through my spine which was full of eloquence. As if I were the barbarian king from the Clash of Clans and some demi-god had inflicted a rage spell on me. Mesmerized by it I felt instigated. Totally spellbound. Gosh...What a write up!!!

Now being mediocre in English I would love to take this opportunity to enhance my skills. I really don't know how to write a blog but I will try and eventually learn from this group in times to come.

The Feeling of getting choked out of words, a lump inside the throat, nostrils swollen up and tears sacked up inside the eyelids is what I experience when I climb up any hill that resembles my motherland. This time it was none other than Darjeeling that I visited a week ago with Rituraj to attend the birthday party of sister Saira. As we climbed up Rohini we could feel the chill in the air and witness the serene beauty of the Himalayas. The stench smell of the Jungle and the smoke coming out of the chimney of the adjacent roadside huts flash backs me to my childhood days spent in Nagaland. I can reminisce all the memories I had with my grand parents and family back then in Nagaland.

After reaching Darjeeling, the weather was fine but not perfect for photography. It was drizzling and foggy. We met Reauben, he was waiting for us at the taxi stand. After meeting him we decided to see places around Darjeeling. We roamed like naughty kids along the streets, clicking portraits and landscapes, having tea and momos. Oh...we really had fun that day followed by the sumptuous dinner at Reauben's place that night.

Whole day my mind struck with an absurdity and I pondered about life out here in Darjeeling and the remote villages nearby. I visualize two facades of people at opposite poles. The one who are the innocent villagers, common people and to the contrary the warrior class, the people from the political parties. Gorkhalis as a whole in fact, are known to be the bravest of all since times immemorial.

I somewhat believe that if we were not been in the clutches of the Britishers we would not be at par in regard to the present-day development. The roads are narrow and is full of potholes, lack of water supply and heavy congestion of traffic in the town. For an instance if we take the example of the Toy Train which the Whites have built two hundred years ago, the current government is not at all bothered to maintain it. It used to run from New Jalpaiguri Station to Darjeeling. Now, it runs only from Kurseong to darjeeling...I mean for God Damn sake its a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE. It seems the people or the govt. out here are not proud of it.

I would like to bring some insights of this beautiful town to you all.
Around 1780, the Gorkhas invaded Sikkim and captured most part of it which includes Darjeeling with Siliguri. They administered it for 35 years when finally after the British- Nepal War, Nepal secedes its territory to the British in the treaty of Segoulee in 1816. The ceded territory includes Darjeeling and Siliguri. Again, Darjeeling was handed over by the British to Sikkim but later taken back by the former for political reasons in 1835.
The present Gorkhaland movement is a search and a fight for its identity. I do not know whether a separate state of Gorkhaland would solve this issue but I really think some concrete steps have to be taken. There was an uproar when Prashant Tamang (former Indian Idol) won the title, a new hero was born here who ended Subash Ghising's reign .I feel sorry and sad for the common people who apparently have chosen this illiterate hero as their leader.
I would not write his name in this blog as I'am still confused whether section 66A has been amended so far by the constitution of India. You know this is India and anything can happen here. I guess you all know what had happened with two girls in Maharashtra. By now you all must be knowing to whom I' am referring to.

Now, seriously there is an identity crisis here,
As in the armed forces its often said. Do you have it in you? I ask the same to my Gorkhali folks. The question remains unanswered. It is vivid from their own responses, If they were to answer ,"where they were from" ? They would bluntly say," we are Nepali".  And they want identity? They are being swayed by the foolish leader. Have you heard in the news of any demands for Gorkhaland in the recent past? Did the idiot commit suicide? Its a complete stalemate. Are the people satisfied? Still no Identity? Only to be called the brave living in the Northeastern part of India? The current leader is exploiting the common man for his political and private gain.

By now the youth should understand. It is high time they should take out their Khukris out of their barns and end the tyranny to re-glorify  its tarnishing image and save their pride and dignity.

BAN-APPETITE!!

Have you ever had that surreal feeling of returning home after a long time? That feeling is probably one of the best. You gaze with a feeling of amusement and the moment when you enter your home, heart is filled with rapture. No matter how small or fancy our hometown might be, its memory is etched forever. Likewise, my hometown of Bagdogra is a more than perfect place for me. It’s very special for me. It doesn’t fall into a category of perfectness; it has its own pitfalls. But it’s a place where feeling good doesn't ever cost a thing. Its beauty is more than appealing with picturesque hills holding its head high. The mystical breeze accompanying it and its muse is fathomless. The mighty forests of the Mahananda Wildlfie Sanctuary give it a rich blend of flora and fauna. Sharing its border with Nepal and lying close to the neighboring states of Bihar and Sikkim, there are many diverse communities and with their vivid lifestyle. Majority consists of people serving in the armed forces, followed up by traders and service sector workers. The best colors are seen during autumn time when Durgo Pujo is accompanied by Dasai and Tihar. Bagdogra too has had its share of disturbance, notwithstanding the agitations, still there is lot of love and bonding between people and no impediment is tough enough to diminish their unity.
The reason why I am writing about it is because of our blog named lX B Headquarters. It has its etymology in Bagdogra. My ecstasy triumphs over the jitteriness as a contributor to the IXB Headquarters blog. Naively and slowly the blog now is veracity. To be clandestine with you all, IXB Headquarters hosted a number of ideas but it dint rear a genuine fruit. It feels stupid to ponder those by gone days when thoughts triggered but never ignited. My indolence was for many reasons. Primely, my taste buds and palates. They were the ones to cause disarray. Whenever any Food For Thought” would pop up, my senses would entertain the "taste bud”, making the "thoughts" an uninvited guest. The visual treat wasn't over, because the “thoughts "would return ..... And today it has.
To give you all a fun fact, Bagdogra which comes under Siliguri is also called “The Chicken Neck" owing to its shape like a thin strip resembling the neck of a chicken. To add to its reputation, The Gorkha and Bengali community have a great fondness for non vegetarian food. The place hosts one of the most amazing Momos round the globe and not to forget many fish cuisines, The Lithi and Chutney adding a Bhojpuri blend. Even more, the street food is tantalizing and on a given day it certainly outplays the KFC’s, Pizzas and Dominos. One can sit near a tea stall near the dusk time sipping tea and do nothing but watch the people and have addas with friends. The feeling is priceless. Some incentives of residing in West Bengal, a place where development is king inroads at a brisk pace .Though a major industry is yet to be initiated, but promises are many. I am acknowledging the fact that unlike other states, who have put a ban on the sale of meat on the occasion of the Jain festival of Paryushan, we are free to eat what we like. Maharashtra started the "Ban- Wagon”, the onus was on the rest of the BJP ruled states. Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat soon followed. The burgeoning ban on the sale of meat and beef is a cultural dogma and stigma for the society. It is a fatwa of democracy. Vegetarianism cannot be an obligation. Why did the chicken cross the road!!! Well, the chicken would be making a mockery of us seeing our acts, preferably no intentions of crossing the road.

The other fact remains that on an average there is a stereotypical behaviour if we take food into account. The Northeastern food is disliked because of the stench smell, though one would miss out on a delicacy if he doesn't taste it. An epitome of frustration would be a North Indian guy who is served with Idli and coconut Chutney if he is ideally a hostel resider. We have that one friend in our group who is a complete veggie at home and suddenly turns carnivorous at birthday parties..
Ironically, when vegetable prices are sky rocketing, non veg seems plausible. I believe it has to be left on one's own faculties of reasoning and rationale to decide what should be done. So folks, the next time you see a deep fried chicken wing or a Pork chop, don't resist the temptation. Grab it and munch it along with your buddies. Till then we at IX B Headquarters will try to find a recipe of happiness for you all and serve it to you very soon. And remember,

It's always Bon- Appetite and not Ban- Appetite......

ABOUT IXB HEADQUARTERS

The concept of IXB Headquarters  was born on our mind when we few friends met and were regularly hanging around a place, now that place is really secret ,we discussed the whereabouts of our life for refreshment we used to grab a couple of beer and and have long chats.
